The town is rich in maritime history and the Maritime Museum on the harbour is well worth a visit, as is the World famous Ffestiniog narrow guage railway which travels from Porthmadog along the ‘Cob’ embankment up into the mountains to Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Porthmadog is impressively set with the mountains as a back-drop and miles of sandy beaches and historic castles on either side.

If you are looking for a unique experience then a visit to nearby Portmeirion is a must. This Italianate village was constructed with building and artefacts from all over the World and was used as the set for the TV series ‘The Prisoner’ which starred Patrick McGoohan.
